On June 1st, the MNYR board unanimously approved a motion to re-charter out our local clubs and adjust it according to our congressional districts they reside in (see attached maps).
By doing this, the MNYRs can elect a local chair for each district that will be responsible for future campaigns within his/her district. Each chairperson will be working closely with our Campaign Chair and our Event Chair. This move also allows for more decentralization within MNYRs by allowing those who want to take active roles to do so on a local level. More local boundaries will allow those leaders to better organize both social and political events within their geographical turf. These events can be mixed and mingled between charters as often as possible.
The qualifications of chartering remains the same. A local charter must include 8 paid members, hold regularly scheduled meetings as called out in our by-laws, and have a local constitution. (Ref. Article VII, Sec 1,4,5)
You are encouraged to plant a flag in your respective congressional district you reside in and announce your intent to be elected chair and meeting the aforementioned requirements in by-laws.
Local constitutions can of course be carried forward with slight wording adjustments reflecting the region. Paid members who have no local charter in their district can flock to the nearest chartered board with approval from local and state treasurer.
