A recent article by Kevin Diaz in the Star Tribune's "Hot Dish Politics" blog brings to light DNC efforts to unseat Erik Paulsen in Minnesota's 3rd Congressional District. The DNC remains hopeful that they can pull off a victory in the district that was the 18-year home of Republican Jim Ramstad (and has been held by a Republican since Clark MacGregor won in 1961) because President Obama won the district handily in 2008 - 52% to 46%.
The fact that the national Democrats want to focus so hard on CD 3 is probably because of their utter inability to unseat Michelle Bachmann in CD 6. Their disdain for her is quite palpable, as evidenced by left-wing bloggers like mnpACT who go so far as to call her a "nut" and a "bigot." The truth is that while voters did show up to offer support for president Obama, those same voters voted for Erik Paulsen by a 7% margin. That means that even though some were caught up in the Obama hysteria, they still had the good sense to vote against Ashwin Madia. That can only lead one to the conclusion that voters recognize Erik Paulsen as a strong candidate, even despite the national obsession with Obama.

Here is the speech that our own Jeff Peil gave last Thursday (November 5th) when asked to give a speech on the current "Public Option" Healthcare debate:
The reason we are all gathered here today is to make two important statements. First and foremost, Michelle Bachmann, John Kline, and Erik Paulsen – Thank you for standing opposed to the public option, you have our FULL SUPPORT. Second – to all of you representatives who want to hop on the Obama bandwagon and lead this country blindly down a path toward FISCAL RUIN, PERSONAL OPPRESSION, and SOCIALISM – your vote for the public option ensures you will have no vote from us! That’s the kind of change WE believe in.

Youth Rally Opposing Government Takeover of Health Care
Minnesotans spoke up this August about health care reform and Rep. Michele Bachmann was listening. Unfortunately, Democrats in Washington weren't listening and the health care proposal they just released contains the same budget-busting, government-interfering issues as before.
Tomorrow, Americans have a chance to join together in Washington and in Minnesota to DEMAND control of our health care.
WHAT: Youth Rally Opposing Government Takeover of Health Care;
WHO: Your fellow Minnesotans hosted by Minnesota Majority (MNYR's Jeff Peil slated to be one of the speakers)
WHEN: TOMORROW- Thursday, November 5, 2009 from 12:00 noon-1:00p.m.
WHERE: South Steps of the Minnesota State Capitol
Private Roundtable with Governor Pawlenty.
Be one of the FIRST 20 RSVP's to contribute the maximum donation $100/Person, $200/Couple and enjoy a Private Round Table with the Governor at 7pm. GOOD FOR MNYR'S ONLY!
Date: Monday, November 16th Time: 7:00-9:00 PM Location: Key Air (10188 Radisson Road NE, Blaine-- just south of 105th off of Radisson Road)

An excerpt from (the always wonderful) Peggy Noonan's column in this weekend's Wall Street Journal:
Speaking at a New York Fundraiser this week:
"Democrats, he said to the Democratic audience, are 'an opinionated bunch.' They always have a lot of thoughts and views. Republicans, on the other hand—'the other side'—aren't really big on independent thinking. 'They just kinda sometimes do what they're told. Democrats, y'all thinkin' for yourselves.' It is never a good sign when the president gets folksy, dropping his g's, because he is by nature not a folksy g-dropper but a coolly calibrating intellectual who is always trying to guess, as most politicians do, what normal people think. When Mr. Obama gets folksy he isn't narrowing his distance from his audience but underlining it. He shouldn't do this." |

We all know the liberal media apparatus is incapable of identifying facts (let alone investigating the veracity of supposed facts). So is anyone surprised how easy it is to fool "journalists?"
Here's a rational question the "journalists" in this room should have considered: "Why would an entity that exists to promote commerce, even a government entity, support global warming legislation that represents the most onerous tax on business ever put in place?"
